Job Summary:  Supports students in all areas of academic success.  The Academic Interventionist will be responsible for creating effective routines to support work completion and academic support, monitor student learning, and consult with core classroom teachers to support success.  Provides individual and/or small group instruction to students as necessary.

Supervision Received: Reports to, receives daily work assignments, and is evaluated by building Principal.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:   No supervisory responsibilities.

  1. Education: Secondary education degree in Education.
  2. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom teaching.
  3. Language Skills: Advanced fluency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  Exceptional reading and writing skills in English to review advanced student work and craft assessments.
  4. Mathematical Skills: Must be able to diagnose student misconceptions, articulate mathematical reasons, and help teachers connect concrete representations to abstract concepts.
  5. Reasoning Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations in a safe, efficient manner. Must be able to multi-task to meet objectives on time.
  6. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Highly effective interpersonal and group communication skills.  Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, faculty, administrators, parents, and representatives of outside organizations and staff.  Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and outside agencies. Ability to effectively resolve conflicts.
